The Brahmatal Trek is one of the most beautiful and serene winter treks in Uttarakhand, offering an exceptional mix of snow-clad landscapes, majestic peaks, and serene alpine lakes. At an altitude of 3,730 meters (12,230 feet), Brahmatal Lake is believed to be a meditation spot for Lord Brahma, lending a mystical aura to the trek. The trail takes you through enchanting forests, expansive meadows, and offers panoramic views of famous peaks like Mt. Trishul and Mt. Nanda Ghunti. Day 1: Arrival in Lohajung (Drive from Kathgodam, 210 km)
- Arrive at Kathgodam in the morning and enjoy a scenic drive to Lohajung, passing through beautiful landscapes.
- Check in to a guest house or homestay and rest for the night.
- Altitude: 7,600 feet
Day 2: Lohajung to Bekaltal (Trek)
- Begin your trek with an ascent through dense forests of oak and rhododendron, arriving at Bekaltal.
- The lake, often partially frozen in winter, provides a stunning sight.
- Trek Distance: 8 km (5–6 hours)
- Overnight stay in tents near Bekaltal.
- Altitude: 9,690 feet
Day 3: Bekaltal to Brahmatal
- A scenic trek through oak and snow-laden forests that opens up to the beautiful meadows of Brahmatal.
- Enjoy views of the surrounding mountains and take in the calmness of the lake.
- Trek Distance: 7 km (4–5 hours)
- Overnight stay in tents at Brahmatal campsite.
- Altitude: 10,440 feet
Day 4: Brahmatal to Brahmatal Peak (Summit) and Back to Brahmatal Campsite
- Today, trek to the Brahmatal Peak (also known as Brahmatal Top) to witness breathtaking 360-degree views of the Himalayan ranges.
- Catch panoramic views of towering peaks like Mt. Trishul, Mt. Nanda Ghunti, and surrounding valleys.
- Descend back to Brahmatal campsite.
- Trek Distance: 6 km round trip (5–6 hours)
- Overnight stay in tents.
Day 5: Brahmatal to Lohajung via Daldum (Return Trek)
- Begin your descent from Brahmatal back to Lohajung via Daldum, passing through dense forests and scenic routes.
- Trek Distance: 10 km (5–6 hours)
- Overnight stay in a guest house in Lohajung.
Day 6: Return to Kathgodam
- Early morning drive from Lohajung back to Kathgodam (210 km, around 10 hours).
- Expected arrival in Kathgodam by late afternoon.
