The Kedarkantha Trek is one of the most popular winter treks in Uttarakhand, attracting trekkers with its enchanting snow-covered landscapes and breathtaking summit views. Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, Kedarkantha offers trekkers a relatively easy yet rewarding experience with panoramic views of the Himalayas. Known for its beautiful campsites, lush pine forests, and picturesque clearings, the trek is a fantastic winter adventure with an achievable summit at an altitude of 3,810 meters (12,500 feet).

Day 1: Arrival in Sankri (Drive from Dehradun, 210 km)
  • Arrive at Dehradun in the morning and drive to Sankri, the base village for the trek.
  • The scenic drive takes you through Mussoorie and pine forests, passing rivers and picturesque villages.
  • Check-in to your guest house or homestay in Sankri.
  • Altitude: 6,400 feet
Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (Trek)
  • Begin the trek from Sankri, passing through dense forests of pine and maple trees.
  • Reach the beautiful campsite at Juda Ka Talab, a serene high-altitude lake surrounded by forests.
  • Trek Distance: 4 km (4–5 hours)
  • Overnight stay in tents at Juda Ka Talab.
  • Altitude: 9,100 feet
Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp
  • Trek through snow-laden trails (in winter) and open meadows, catching beautiful views of snow-covered peaks.
  • Reach the Kedarkantha Base Camp, an ideal location to enjoy views of nearby ranges.
  • Trek Distance: 4 km (3–4 hours)
  • Overnight stay in tents at Kedarkantha Base Camp.
  • Altitude: 11,250 feet
Day 4: Kedarkantha Base Camp to Kedarkantha Summit and Descend to Juda Ka Talab
  • Start early to trek up to the Kedarkantha summit, experiencing a thrilling ascent and enjoying panoramic views from the top.
  • Peaks like Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, and Black Peak are visible from the summit.
  • After spending time at the summit, descend to the Hargaon campsite.
  • Trek Distance: 6 km (7–8 hours round trip)
  • Overnight stay in tents at Hargaon.
  • Altitude: 12,500 feet (summit), 8,900 feet (Hargaon)
Day 5: Juda Ka Talab to Sankri/Dehradun
  • Trek down through forests and picturesque trails, returning to Sankri.
  • Trek Distance: 6 km (3–4 hours)
  •  Sankri back to Dehradun (210 km, around 8 hours).
